Posting Guidelines
PDK chapter listserve (pdk@waldenu.edu)

  1. Please include your name, and where you are from, within your email. Remember that many of the people receiving this list will not have met you before. This will help us all get to know each other.

  2. When you reply to a post, only include the pertinent portion of the original message for context and delete the rest.

  3. Please do NOT send attachments. (This mailing list turns attachments into gibberish for some recipients.)

  4. Please maintain the same courtesy in your emails that you would in a face-to-face meeting.

  5. Follow the "least common denominator" principle. Remember that your emails to this list will go to people using many different computer systems and email programs. Some will not be able to view your signature graphics, or your alignment, font, style and color choices--so it is best to just use PLAIN TEXT when sending to mailing list groups. All platforms and email programs can render plain text. Just type--don't do anything fancy. Use blank lines instead of tabs to separate paragraphs. Use capital letters for emphasis instead of bold or italics. Look in your email program's settings (usually called "Settings" or "Options" or "Preferences") and turn off anything like "styled text" or "HTML" before you send. (Those features are fine for use with individual recipients who you are sure have compatible email programs, but are not suitable for use to a mailing list.)

  6. If you have more than one email address, remember to send your mail FROM the address that the mailing list recognizes you by! If you send email from another of your email addresses, it will be held in a queue until Sandi or I discover it and pass it through to the rest of the group. That's because this is a "subscription-only" list--only chapter members are allowed to post, and the non-human software program doesn't recognize you except by the address you are sending from. (If you don't receive your own email promptly after sending to pdk@waldenu.edu, that's probably why. I will try to check the queue at least a couple of times a day during meetings. If you realize you have done this, you can email me directly (gwiseman@mindspring.com) to nudge me to pass your message through to the rest of the list ASAP.)

  7. JUST DO IT! Speak up and make your presence known!
