ON-LINE DISCUSSION WITH THE TOKYO
CHAPTER OF PDK
During the middle of February a very special event occurred, namely, the Walden
Cyber Chapter and the Tokyo Chapter of PDK held a virtual on-line discussion
marking another giant step forward for our chapters. The issues covered were
topical and very interesting. The discussion covered technology and the use
of technology in the classroom, with comparison between Japan and the United
States. The need for teachers to stay abreast of technology for instruction
purposes, and how some students have a better grasp of technology than do the
teachers was also discussed.
The following comments were provided by the Tokyo PDK President:
"On behalf of all of us at PDK-Japan, I would like to thank you for participating in our first annual online meeting. We realize that it has been short, but, at the same time, appreciate your interest and your efforts. Like too many activities in this busy world of ours, this one is ending quickly. We hope that you have enjoyed it. I know that we have. What I hope is that this online meeting can serve as a motivator for all of us in the future. I personally get tired of traveling to meetings, but always enjoy the camaraderie found with the other people who attend the meetings. This concept of online meetings is designed to bring people and ideas together from wherever in the world they are found, and especially to meet and "talk" with people from all over the world about topics of mutual concern."
"Special thanks to Dr. Marilyn Simon for helping us to get this meeting underway and to keep it going. Also, I would like to thank Cheryl Birt, PDK-Japan President-Elect, and Andre Elliott, for their excellent efforts on behalf of PDK-Japan."
Lowell Jacobson, President, PDK-Japan, Las Vegas, February 20, 2002

of those that you associate with and invite them to join. Let us make our chapter,
not only the best, but also the largest!
NATIONALS PROGRAMS AND FUND RAISING
President Craddock has asked that members be reminded of our efforts as a chapter
to participate in PDKs national programs for chapter recognition, and
this includes the need to participate in fund-raising activities to meet our
financial obligations to National. By doing this we can achieve honor status
once again!
UPCOMING MEMBERSHIP MEETING
Our Chapters next membership meeting will be held from March 30 through
April 5th. Lets all participate, dont depend on others, dont
wait for others, jump right in and take part, be an active participant in your
Chapter! Reminds me of the PBS fund raising events, so few in communities participate
yet many enjoy the benefits. Get involved!
SUMMER SESSION:
